The PSJA ISD Advanced Academics Department provides guidance and support to all K-12 campuses in the district. The Advanced Academics Department serves all advanced learners as well as the gifted and talented identified students.

The Texas student assessment program is designed to measure the extent to which a student has learned and is able to apply the defined knowledge and skills at each tested grade or course level.

College Readiness

The College Readiness Program is the overall umbrella for many academic initiatives and programs like the Early College High School program, College Transition Specialist, PSJA Academies, PSJA Institutes and many others.

College Transition Specialists

The College Transition Program is designed to help students transition successfully from high school to college and aims to ensure that all of our students are provided with the necessary information and assistance needed to reach their post-secondary goals.

For counselors to provide a comprehensive program to ensure every student maximizes growth in academic achievement, personal/emotional, and career development. PSJA ISD students will have many opportunities to obtain necessary knowledge and skills in the areas of decision making, goal-setting, problem-solving, communication and interpersonal effectiveness to become responsible and self-confident citizens.

The PSJA ISD Career & Technical Education Academies students will graduate college and career ready by empowering them to be successful citizens, workers, and leaders in a global and multicultural society. The Career & Technical Education Academies program provides cutting-edge, rigorous and relevant education that prepares secondary students for a wide range of high-wage, high-skill, highdemand careers.

Dual Language Program

PSJA’s Dual Language Enrichment Program is an academic experience designed for students to develop stronger cognitive and academic skills through the development of on-level bilingualism and biliteracy.

Early Childhood Program

The PSJA Early Childhood Education Program provides a solid foundation for lifelong learning. Students who participate in the PSJA Pre-K 3 and Pre-K 4 Program gain important skills to prepare them for success in kinder and beyond. The program is free for all 3 and 4 year-olds. Students must be 3 or 4 years of age by September 1 to be eligible to receive these services.

Early College Program

All of PSJA ISD high schools are designated Early College, which allow students to attend college and high school simultaneously. Each student has the opportunity to earn a high school diploma and a 2-year Associate Degree or 60 college credit hours towards a four-year Bachelor’s Degree at no cost to the student or the parents. They offer rigorous instruction and provide academic, social and emotional support services to help students succeed.

Fine Arts

The mission of the Fine Arts Department is to provide all PSJA students access to a high-quality fine arts education in art, dance, music, and theatre from pre-kinder through graduation. PSJA ISD Fine Arts students have the opportunity to explore their passion for the arts in a variety of disciplines and settings. They showcase their talents often through performances at campus, district, and community events. All of our Fine Arts students also have the opportunity to earn recognition through UIL events and other competitions.

Library Services

The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD Library Instructional Resource Program promotes and encourages independent reading, engages students in developing 21st Century thinking skills, ensures that all students are effective and ethical users of information sources and promotes equitable access to all forms of information media.

Migrant

The mission of the migrant program is to provide support services / programs for eligible migratory children and parents to help overcome the challenges of mobility, cultural and language barriers, social isolation and other challenges associated with their migratory lifestyle. The PSJA Migrant program currently serves 2,300 students and also provides support services for their respective legal guardians.

PSJA Academies

The PSJA Academies, provide additional hands-on learning in various specific fields of study supporting students as they work to obtain a Certificate or an Associate Degree from South Texas College. Through a cohort approach, students build positive relationships, receive rigorous instruction; as well as receive academic, emotional and social support to successfully complete the coursework.

Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 is a civil rights statute that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in programs or activities that receive federal financial assistance from the U.S. Dept. of Education. The Office of Civil Rights (OCR), a component of the U.S. Dept. of Education, enforce Section 504.

Special Education

The mission of PSJA's Special Education Program is to ensure students with disabilities are educated with non-disabled peers in the least restrictive environment determined under each of their Individual Education Plans.
